Shanghai Pudong Mandarin Oriental Hotel Project

This hotel project is one of Art Pioneer Studio(APS) founder's past achievements. At the time, dozens of well-known artists from China and abroad are invited to create artworks in public areas such as hotel lobby, restaurants and swimming pool. Artist Eiji Okubo created the “City of Shanghai series” and artist Shigehito Matsuda created the “Water Surface series” for this five-star luxury hotel located at the financial district of Pudong. The hotel lobby displays the huge glass mosaic wall “Sound of Heaven” created both by Chinese artist Miao Tong and Japanese artist Makoto Nishikawa. The entire lobby wall is covered by 70,000 glass mosaic patches, bringing the nature and vitality of the forest into the architectural space.
